Golf is not like the other ball games. It does not have an area of play that is standard. This makes it hard for players to adjust to the varied types of terrains that are found on each course. A course typically has 18 to nine holes. These are the areas of land that have cups that mark which hole is where the ball is received. Every hole has a teeing surface to start from and a putting area with the cup. There are various standard forms of terrain that lie between the tee area and the green, including the fairway and rough (tall grass), and various hazards, such as water, rocks, or bunkers filled with sand. Each hole is distinct and is designed in a unique way. Stroke play is the most frequently played form at all levels, but especially at the highest level.
